**lesson: Gs gift/tool of confessing my sin neh8/9
A. I read neh8-9 last wk & 5 things that stood out 2 me: 
 1. Spirit of expectancy: Gs pep gathered 2 hear G/wanted 2hear from G.
 2. Spirit of yieldedness: Gs pep respon n faith/obed 2 wat G said 2 them. 
 3. Gs peps focused not on blame/excus but on owning/confessing sin. 
 4. Emphasis wasnt on peps sin rather on Gs faithfulness/mercy/4give.  
 5. Gs pep exper saddness over sin/joy over Gs luv/mercy/right standing
 6. Result: powerful spir renew/refresh/restor occurred n lives of Gs pep

B. B continually admonishes us 2 exam our lives & confess our sins 2 G.
 1. 1cor11 but if we exam our lives, we wont b judged by G.
 2. lam3 let us exam our wys&return2G/declar: weve sinned/rebelled
 3. 2cor13 exam urself 2c if ur faith is real/test urself 4 u know J is wth u 
 4. gal6 pay careful attn 2ur own wk & exper the satisf of a job well done
 5. heb3 make sure ur own hart isnt evil/unbeliev turning u away from G 
 6. ps51 have mercy on me OG, because of ur unfailing luv/great compass blot out my sins. Wash    
       me clean of my guilt. Purify me from my sins

 8. 1jn1 if we confess our sins G is faithful/just2 4give our sins/cleanse us

C. we see confess of sin n a neg lite but its really a precious gift from G  
 1. who wants 2b reminded of the wrong things we’ve done/said/thought? 
 2. but confession of sin is a gift/tool Gs prov 4our spir heal/refresh/restor
 3. act3 repent of ur sin that u may b 4giv & xs of refreshing may come
 4. ps139 search me OG&know my hart/exam me&c if there is anything offensive n my life & lead  
       me on a path of life. 
 5. must rem G knows im broken/reg fail *rm3 all have sinned/fall short
 6. G hates my sin bcause of how it hurts/robs/shames the 1s he loves most
 7. but he loves me n spite of my sin&hes waiting ready2 4giv me. (PS) 
 8. confess is humbling but humbling self leads 2 exper grace. *jm/1pet/pr
 9. confess is Gs gift 2free/clean (naman/girl n dress) -2b celeb/not avoided
 10. confess is Gs plan 2 remove walls/weights/thieves that rob of abun life
 11. ps32 how blessed r pep whos transgress r 4given/whos sin is covered& against whom the L 
        counts no iniquity&n whose spir theres no deceit. 4 when I kept silent, my bones decayed&I 
        groaned all day but I owned my sin/didnt hide my evil/confessed my wrong& U 4gave my guilt.

    b. phil2 do all things w/o complaining/arguing jm4 speak evil of no1
    c. pr12 life/death n tongue’s power pr18 wds of wise/fools heal/wound
    d. pr29 more hope4fool than1hasty n wds pr16 evil pep spread gossip
    e. jm1 quick2hear/slow2speak/slow2anger 1thess5 respect those n auth

E. Lords Supper/Prayer/Blessing/Announcements/Call 2 worship
 1. LS: how does G4give sin? 1pet3 C died 4us&his death pd 4 our sins, the innocent died 4 the 
       guilty 2 bring us n2 rel wth G.

neh8&9 all Gs pep gathered n Jer wth a unified purpose b4 the temple. They asked ezra the scribe2bring out the Law which the L gave Isr2obey. So ezra brought Gs Law b4the pep which inclu all the men/women/kids old enough 2understand. He stood from early am til 12 &read aloud2every1 who could understand. All Gs pep listened closely2Gs Law. Ezra stood n full view of the pep on a high platform made just 4 the occasion. 2his right/left stood all Isr’s rel/gov leaders. When they saw him open the bk they all rose2their ft& ezra praised the L the great G&all the pep chanted, amen/amen as they lifted their hands. Then they bowed&worshiped the L wth their faces2the ground. The Levites instructed the pep n Gs Law while every1 remained still. They read from Gs Law&clearly explained wat was being read. Then neh the gov/ezra the scribe&the Levites who were interpreting4the pep said, dont mourn/weep on a day like this! 2day is a sacred day b4 the L ur G. 4 the pep had been weeping as they listened2Gs Law. Neh said go celebr wth an abun feast&share gifts of food wth pep who have 0. This is a sacred day b4 our L. Dont b dejected/sad4the joy of the L is ur strength! Later the pep assembled again&this time they fasted/dressed n burlap/sprinkled dust on their heads. They confessed their own sins&the sins of their ancestors. They stood n pl 4 3hrs while Gs Law was read. Then 4 3more hrs they confessed their sins & worshiped the L. The Levites stood&cried out2the L their G wth loud voices. Then the levite leaders said2the pep: stand up&praise the L ur G4he lives from everlasting2everlasting! Then they prayed: may ur glorious name b praised/may it b exalted above all blessing/praise 4 only U r the L.
